York used to be a top-tier brand in the 1990s. The current Johnson Controls York is competent but not exceptional — equivalent to mid-tier Goodman or Heil. I service York systems all the time (lots of 1990s installs around the South Bay), but it wouldn't be my first recommendation on a new install. Honest equipment, just nothing distinguishing. In Harbor City specifically, salt-laden marine air, port traffic dust, a permanent 'just had a foggy morning' feel.
